NFG is now welcoming session proposals for our 2025 National Convening!

Program:

For the 2025 National Convening, we are excited to be working with NFG members and local funders and organizers to design an engaging program full of strategy conversations, member-led sessions, and a lot of connection, joy, and fun! This convening will feature the following:

  • Strategy sessions hosted by NFG programs — Amplify Fund, Democratizing Development Program, Funders for a Just Economy, Integrated Rural Strategies Group, Midwest Organizing Infrastructure Funders, and Philanthropy Forward
  • Organizing conversations with funders to shift money & power in philanthropy and participate in funder strategy spaces
  • Opportunities to build relationships and learn from local Amplify Fund and LIFT Fund grantee partners that are building power in Nashville and middle Tennessee
  • Ample time to connect with longtime & new friends during NFG’s evening parties, featuring a celebration of the winners of the Discount Foundation Legacy Award and the NFG Award for Excellence in Philanthropy
  • Morning wellness programming and arts & culture offerings
  • And 18 concurrent sessions led by funders and NFG members!

Session Criteria and RFP Process: Proposals will be accepted from November 20, 2024 - January 31, 2025

  • NFG’s convening has 18 spaces available for concurrent 90-minute in-person sessions, which will take place on Tuesday, July 15, Wednesday, July 16, or Thursday, July 17.
  • NFG is a community of grantmakers and funders. We are only accepting session proposals that are submitted by funders. We welcome the participation of movement organizations and philanthropic support organizations as session co-designers, speakers, or in moderator/facilitator roles for your sessions.
    • Funders submitting session proposals must also agree to cover the costs of travel, lodging, and convening registration for any movement and grantee speakers that are part of your session. These costs can be shared with other funders/grantmakers.
  • Session proposals will be reviewed and selected by convening committee members. Criteria to inform session selection includes:
    • Relevance to convening theme: Seeding (and Ceding) Transformational Power
    • Strong calls to action for funders
    • Connections to funder organizing and NFG’s long-term goal to liberate philanthropic assets so that BIPOC and low-income communities have power to self-determine
    • Variety in session formats, regions and geographies, and issues and topic areas
    • Actively engages convening participants
  • Session proposal designers can expect to hear back from NFG by early March 2025.
    • If your session is selected, NFG will ask you to confirm that you want to proceed with your session per the proposal one week later. Upon this confirmation, NFG will ask for the following:
      • Confirmed speaker names by mid-March.
      • Register all session speakers by the end of March. You will receive a speaker code for any movement and grantee speakers (not funders) for a discounted convening registration rate of $800.
      • Confirm final in-person session description by mid-April. No hybrid/virtual options are available for concurrent sessions.
      • Share your ideal room configuration by mid-April. There are different sizes for the rooms, and we’ll try our best to plan accordingly based on what you are looking for in your session.
      • Identify any additional A/V needs by mid-April. NFG will equip your session room with microphones and A/V.
      • Book lodging and travel for all speakers by May.
