The Fund Excluded Workers Coalition invites you to join its 2022 strategy briefing on Wednesday, December 1 (9:30am PT / 12:30pm ET).

In 2021, this coalition won a historic $2.1 billion statewide fund for New Yorkers who had been excluded from government relief. All eyes are on New York as this is the first publicly-funded program to provide an expanded safety net for otherwise excluded workers. It creates a critical proof point for other states to follow and for eventual national adoption.

These funds were rapidly distributed to workers across the state—thanks largely to the outreach and enrollment work of coalition members.

Yet many thousands of excluded workers didn’t get a chance to apply to this fund. And excluded workers still lack a permanent safety net.

This means our work continues. Using the lessons from the past year, the Fund Excluded Workers coalition is now working towards these two goals:

  1. Replenishing the existing fund with the $3 billion necessary to fund remaining excluded workers.
  2. Creating a permanent unemployment insurance policy for workers who are currently excluded.

We look forward to seeing you there!
