Membership Eligibility

Institutions whose primary activity is grantmaking and who are interested in supporting racial, economic, gender, and climate justice movements across the U.S. are welcome to join NFG.

NFG members are as diverse as the communities they serve. They work in every part of the nation, in both urban and rural settings. Our members include private foundations, community foundations, family foundations, corporate foundations and giving programs, religious giving programs, public foundations, and other grantmaking institutions.

If your institution is not eligible for membership (e.g., peer Philanthropy Serving Organizations or affinity groups), please contact us to learn more about how we can partner.

To become a member, your foundation is one that:

  • Centers people and communities.
  • Holds values of equity and justice.
  • Works at a national or local scale - and anywhere in between.
  • Wants to build relationships, strategize, and partner with like-minded funders across the country.
  • Strives to deepen your analysis and learn from others.
  • Seeks to mobilize resources with greater alignment and strategy for deeper impact.
