Dear friend,

Neighborhood Funders Group is a community of grantmakers who are moving money to racial, gender, economic, disability, and climate justice. We organize philanthropy so that Black, Indigenous, and people of color communities and low-income communities thrive.

For the past two years, NFG has been in a significant period of leadership transition and organizational change that has included developing and expanding our staff team to provide programmatic leadership and bolster our infrastructure, working toward our first contract for our staff union, and exploring how we can ensure the strongest organizational foundation for future leadership to build upon. See more about our organizational development and transition process in prior newsletters from June 2022December 2022, and December 2023.

As we ready NFG to kick off the search for new leadership at the end of this year, we want to hear from our members to better understand NFG’s identity today.

If you're a funder in the NFG community, you’re invited to join a Member Call Focus Group led by our consulting partners from Imagine Us to support us in exploring questions pertaining to NFG’s identity and role in the philanthropic support organization ecosystem.

Green and blue overlayed boxes that state "Member Call Focus Groups. Who are we as NFG? Exploring NFG's Evolving Identity"
RSVP to join an NFG focus group discussion on June 18, July 2, or July 10. Please note that these focus groups are open to grantmakers who participate in the NFG community.

WHO:
NFG is inviting members to “opt-in” to a focus group. We are seeking a cross-section of funders who reflect varied perspectives from across a range of identities, roles, types of grantmaking organizations, level of engagement with NFG, and duration of time involved with NFG.

WHAT:
Participate in a two-hour “opt-in” focus group discussion alongside other NFG members to assess the current composition of NFG’s community of grantmakers; how it’s changing; and if the composition of its community reflects its values and theory of change.

Emerging themes from the focus groups are integral to NFG’s learning journey, which is informing our organizational development and transition process and upcoming leadership search.

WHEN:
We are offering two-hour virtual focus group sessions, which will be led by our consulting partners from Imagine Us, on the following dates:

  • June 18, at 10am PT | 1pm ET - happening today!
  • July 2, at 11am PT | 2pm ET
  • July 10, at 12pm PT | 3pm ET

If you’d like to participate, please choose a session that suits your schedule on one of the call dates. If you have any questions about the focus groups, feel free to reach out to me at courtney@nfg.org.

NFG members are our co-conspirators, our strategic partners, and an animating force behind so much of our work. We look forward to your participation in these focus groups!

Wishing you a happy Pride, happy Juneteenth, and happy solstice,
Courtney
