2020 Virtual Learning Visit

In 2020 NFG's Amplify Fund and Funders for a Just Economy (FJE) program hosted a virtual learning visit in collaboration with our partners at Stand Up Nashville and The Equity Alliance to highlight the history of race, labor, and organizing in the city. Over the course of three days, participants heard local leaders share how they are centering Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities of color; migrants; and LGBTQ+ communities, and building power so that community members are able to make decisions about the places where they live and their working conditions.

Building Power in Place

In 2021, FJE, in partnership with Amplify Fund, created the “Nashville: Reshaping the City Towards an Economy for All” report to expand upon NFG’s Building Power in Place project. With the recognition that there is no “one size fits all” solution to addressing low-wage worker issues and economic inequality in the US — this report gets specific on how land, labor, and capital act as building blocks not only for how Nashville’s current economy operates, but also as sites for community members to contest the power structures which organize their daily lives.
