On June 15, join Amplify Fund to learn about how a framework centering human dignity – the basic value of each human life – can help combat the ongoing criminalization and dehumanization of our communities.  Recent attacks threaten the very existence not only of targeted communities (immigrants, people of color, LGBTQ people, low-income communities) but anyone who asks questions, dissents, or speaks truth to power. Nothing guarantees safety:  not following the rules, not citizenship status, not even whiteness.  Policies, practices, and rhetoric are characterizing human beings as disposable and eroding the fundamental principle that every person deserves safety, respect, and freedom by virtue of their humanity.

Community is the antidote to authoritarianism. Drawing on the place-based and community-rooted work of Amplify Fund, this session invites funders to engage with human dignity as a critical lens to counter militarization and authoritarianism.  Amplify’s grantee partners will share how they center human dignity in their work, from resisting immigration enforcement to protecting housing, healthcare, and education.  Learn about why this frame has become a guiding principle in Amplify’s work and how philanthropy can support strategies that center human dignity across movements and funding priorities.  Speakers include:

Ariadna Michelle Godreau Aubert, Executive Director, Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico

Laura Martin, Executive Director, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada

Renata Peralta, Deputy Director, Amplify Fund (moderator)
