Through political education, peer organizing, and strategic collaboration, Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG) creates a political home for mobilizing philanthropy’s people, assets, and resources to build power for community organizing and progressive movements. In collaboration with NFG members and movement partners, our team is co-creating opportunities for funders to make connections between socials issues such as gentrification and displacement, environmental justice, and capitalist exploitation, to a more holistic understanding of how and why our systems are failing our communities.
Below is a list of upcoming programming and political education opportunities hosted by NFG's programs as well as resources than can help inform your approach to philanthropic practices that are grounded in trust and that advance liberation. We look forward to building with you!

NFG’s Funders for a Just Economy program is excited to announce its fifth iteration of the Racial Capitalism Community of Practice (RCCoP)! Through political education, building shared understanding, and strategic collaboration with peers, this is a space for funders to imagine and seed a future in which our economy works for everyone.
The upcoming Community of Practice puts political education and the vision of movement leaders in action. Participants will develop their skills as funder organizers who are shifting philanthropic culture, grantmaking strategies and practices, and moving more resources in order to transform harmful economic systems.

Are you attending Environmental Grantmakers Association’s 2026 Fall Retreat in Virginia Beach? Join Renata Peralta, Deputy Director of NFG’s Amplify Fund, for a session on Monday, September 28 at 2pm that explores a critical part of the Fund’s vision: land justice.
During How “Land Justice” Differs Across Place, participants will:

Discuss how the Fund’s local strategy refresh process informed a tailored grantmaking approach for each region,

And strategize about how these findings can inform the grantmaking strategy for other environmental justice funders.

Join NFG's Democratizing Development Program (DDP) on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 9:30am PT / 12:30pm ET for Real Talk: Strategies for Funding Housing Justice!
During this funders-only strategy session, we’ll gather to deepen collective analysis among foundation staff at all levels of experience and expertise on gentrification and displacement, identify intersectional approaches that protect, preserve, and produce affordable housing, and highlight actions that create long-term benefits for residents to self-determine their communities. Participants will hear from fellow practitioners and NFG members from the Cypress Fund and The James Irvine Foundation as they share insights on ways philanthropy can resource a future where residents self-determine their housing and community’s development.
